Interview with Yuri Milner about his purchase of a 2% share in Facebook (Slon.ru, in Russian):
- What kind of profit do you expect from Facebook in the next two or three years?
- We have a financial model to analyse the results of such companies. We can't reveal it, but it shows that Facebook is an excellent company. Facebook has about 200 million users. Most of them live in countries where the product per head of the population is several times bigger than in Russia. At the same time, our Russian projects are making substantial profits. On the basis that Facebook is tens of times bigger, the profit from it should be tens of times bigger.- Can you tell how you did the deal with Facebook? Who made the first offer to whom?
- We approached them, and there was a very tough fight with the competition. Apart from us there were several aspiring purchasers.- Russians among them?
- No, only Americans.- So Zuckerberg said in advance how many shares he wanted to sell?
- I would say he wanted to get $200 million.- This is with Zuckerberg always saying that he doesn't need money, but that he's ready to take it on the right terms?
- That's what he usually says.
